About Special Event Tipis & Marquees

Special Event Tipis & Marquees was established in 2011, inspired by our own tipi wedding. We provide tipi hire and sailcloth marquee hire across Northern England & Scotland, creating unique outdoor spaces for weddings and events.

After seven years together, David proposed to Kate at the top of Machu Picchu while backpacking through South America. Not long after, our journey into the world of weddings and events began.

With bases in Cumbria and Newcastle, we are perfectly positioned to deliver events across Cumbria & the Lake District, Northumberland, Lancashire, North Yorkshire, Scotland and the Scottish Borders.

Unique Weddings & Special Events

Our tipis were the perfect setting for our own big day, creating a relaxed and unforgettable outdoor wedding venue.

Since then, we’ve helped over 1,700 clients plan their event. From weddings and festival-style parties to corporate events and furniture hire, every event is different, and we love being part of that journey.

As we’ve grown, we’ve expanded our range of tents to include beautiful sailcloth marquees and stretch tents, giving our clients even more choice when creating their perfect event space.

A Family Business

Special Event Tipis & Marquees is very much a family business. Alongside our dog Truffle, our children George and Ted are very much part of the team!

We’re also proud to work with a fantastic team of experienced crew chiefs and crew members, some of whom have been with us since the very beginning. They understand exactly what it takes to deliver a smooth, successful event, from installation through to the final details.
